Abstract

The "Protocol for the Detection and Initial Management of Suicidal Ideation" was developed to identify risk factors within the Regional Autonomous University of the Andes that involves students in the medical career. The project is focused on training students about suicidal behaviors, establishing the most frequent causes in the young adult population, so that risk factors can be analyzed inside and outside the student environment, for which hypothesis is generated with scientific basis covering important aspects; among them the cause of death in young people between 15 and 24 years, depending on age and sex, the estimates made indicating the rise of 1.5 million victims in 2020 and the percentage of global burden on morbidity. The type of research is non-experimental, descriptive and cross-sectional. The instrument used for the analysis are the surveys (14 questions with items: always, almost always, sometimes, almost never, never) applied to the population sample with a percentage of 100% that allowed to have real and reliable results for the draft.
