Abstract

The objective of this study is to reflect on the theory known so far in relation to what we have called SELECTIVE ANEMPATY. It is a completely new concept in the field of mental health, which must be clearly differentiated from integrated or subclinical psychopathy and which basically refers to the absence of empathy in the close interpersonal relationship, however, it is selective because it manages to feel Empathy in situations or with specific people. Methods Data collection was carried out from February to September 2016 with 182 people between 18 and 45 years, of which 124 were women and 58 men. The diagnostic instrument was the clinical interview. Results In this article the concept of anempathy, etiology, classification and percentages of cases is defined according to the categories of anempathy found. Conclusions The concept of selective anempathy allows us to understand different interpersonal relationships in a different way, offering another theoretical framework and new guidelines for psychotherapy intervention.
