Abstract

The relationship between the perception of family risk factors for child abuse and the sociodemographic characteristics of a population of children and adolescents in the cities of La Paz, El Alto, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz is described. The population is composed of children and adolescents at high social risk. EPMI (Child Abuse Perception Scale) is used for this, which measures the perception of the population regarding family communication factors, demonstration of affection, resolution of family conflicts, respect for rights, signs of child abuse and beliefs that perpetuate the abuse It can be concluded that there is a relationship between the perception of family risk factors for child abuse and the sociodemographic variables of the participants. This demonstrates that the phenomenon of child abuse is closely linked to the culture and society of a particular group.
