Keywords:
Fili-parental violence, teenagers, family violence, revisionAbstract
Research on domestic violence has commonly been associated with "traditional" directions of aggression. Recently, however, attention has begun to be drawn to an ignored phenomenon: the violence of sons or daughters towards their parents or authority figures or also called filio-parental violence (VFP). Therefore, in this review of the recent scientific literature, the main characteristics of VFP are presented: concept, prevalence, typology, explanatory models, individual and family characteristics, as well as some gaps detected in the research. The subsequent purpose is to enliven the interest of the academic community specialized in topics of childhood, youth, family and violence to promote greater attention to the violence of adolescents and their parents, mothers or authority figures in the Spanish-speaking context.
