Madness and psychoanalysis, on the subject of Pierre Riviera, a 19th century parricide

The purpose of this article is to analyze the discourse on madness concerning the regulatory system in charge of managing crime in the 19th century. The case of parricide Pierre Riviere is exposed and with it, the vicissitudes that accompanied the judicial process, tending to the declaration of his criminal responsibility. Finally, and under a psychoanalytic orientation, the memories written by the parricide will be read, giving rise to the subjective motives that led him to commit his crime.
