Abstract

The relationship between burnout, job satisfaction and personality traits is established in 215 nurses from 7 hospitals in La Paz. The level of reliability and the factor validity of the MBI, the Brody and Ehrilchman's Big Five Minitest and the Travers and Cooper Work Satisfaction Questionnaire are determined. Job satisfaction correlates positively with personal fulfillment, negatively with depersonalization and emotional exhaustion. The internal consistency of the MBI is optimal. The BFT Mini test is not a reliable instrument. The Labor Satisfaction questionnaire has adequate internal consistency. Job satisfaction is related to the management style and interest given to suggestions. 8% of the sample has burnout syndrome.
