Hypnosis for pain control in burn patients

Abstract

The pain experienced in medical procedures for treatment of burn patients is considered the most intense experience than any condition. Medical treatment of these patients consists of daily treatment depending on the severity of the burn, especial nutrition and rehabilitation in items of movement with physiotherapy daily also. But it has not been given enough importance to the pain taken by these patients during their long stay and in all these medical procedures. When pain is severe and left untreated can lead to anxiety, posttraumatic stress, depression and suicidal ideation. The present research demonstrated the effectiveness of hypnosis and pain management autohypnosis in five patients with deep second degree burns, before, during and after the healing and physiotherapy, as well as the pain experienced steadily and emotional pain.
