Abstract

Transformational leadership is a factor associated with the potential to enhance teacher job satisfaction. This study aimed to analyze transformational leadership as a factor associated with job satisfaction and to examine the relationship between variables and the differences observed according to gender and years of service. A quantitative, descriptive-correlational study with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design was conducted. Participants were 457 primary school teachers. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) and a teacher job satisfaction scale were used to collect data. The main results indicate high levels of transformational leadership (M = 3.76; 75.29%) and job satisfaction (M = 3.92; 78.46%). A positive and statistically significant correlation was found between both variables (r = .467, p < .001), with 21.8% of the variability in job satisfaction being associated with transformational leadership. On the other hand, no statistically significant differences were identified in the relationship between the variables and gender or years of service. It is concluded that transformational leadership is an important organizational factor associated with job satisfaction, and therefore, strengthening it could contribute to teacher well-being and professional development.
