The purpose of this article is to examine the relationship between the affective, continuation and normative components of the organizational commitment from the Meyer and Allen model (1997) and a specific segment of the hierarchical structure in four Bolivian organizations. A sample of 424 workers cataloged at the lowest levels of the organizational structure was obtained, who occupied positions of factory worker, hotel service employee, and cashier or bank customer service platform employee. The results, submitted to the analysis of the ANOVA variance, showed that the three groups studied differed significantly in the levels of organizational commitment in the three components. The positive responses of bank employees prevailed over those of factory workers and these, in turn, outperformed hotel service employees. The findings are discussed in the light of the complexity and richness inherent in the tasks associated with the positions studied and the working conditions offered in the respective organizations.
