Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe the motivational profile and attitude towards learning the Aymara language; interpreted from Gardner's socioeducational model. Knowing this profile is essential at the moment of implementation of native languages in the Bolivian education system, because it allows us to know about the social dynamics between the linguistic communities and the motivational orientations of the students evaluating if they are in favor of interculturality and significant learning. This descriptive research was carried out on 173 third-year high school students from private schools in the city of La Paz; to which the “MOTIV-ACT LANGUAGE” instrument was applied. The results of this research show an integrative motivation in a quarter of the total population studied; a medium degree of motivation; attitudes towards teaching factors - positive learning and less positive attitudes towards social factors involved in learning the Aymara language.
